Old Town Toastmasters was chartered in September of 2005 in the Rio Division of District 3 of Toastmasters International. The Founding President was Anna Johnston, ATM-B, CL. Judy Register was instrumental in helping the group form, and remains active to this day.
The club prides itself on being a friendly and supportive group that can help newcomers overcome their fears of public speaking. To this end, each member usually gets some role in each meeting so that he or she can make steady progress toward their educational goals.
In its first full year as a Toastmasters club, Old Town Toastmasters received the Select Distinguished Club award for meeting seven of ten possible objectives. This was possible because of the commitment of its members to achieving significant progress in public speaking and leadership.
We hope that you will come join us at any of our meetings. We always welcome either experienced Toastmasters or those who have questions about our program. We welcome new members who would like to share the Toastmasters experience.
